Rodney Steidinger:

This is Rodney with landscaping with Zebra scapes. We're here today talking about, what does the salesman, a landscape salesman, go through their mind when they enter your property? I'm sure a lot of you have questions like, I wonder what they're thinking? Do they think we have money? They're trying to get the maximum dollar. They're trying to rip me off. They're trying to take advantage of me all these questions, I would be surprised. They don't go through your head. So here's the truth. At Zebra scapes and so many other great companies with high integrity, we go to a house and we see, you know, a nice car in the yard, or whatever that people say it's flashy. We don't look at their vehicles and their possessions, but we look at what's around them, and when we ask the client, what's your budget, it irritates a lot of people, to be honest with you, what's your budget? It is very hard for our salesmen to go out and to meet a client, a customer, and to sit down and then say, I like my backyard renovated, different ideas. What's your budget? Well, I don't want to tell you. Well, saying the budget, all it does is speeds the process up. All that does is help us understand how complex this is going to be, or how simple it's gonna be, I go to a backyard. What's your budget? I don't really have a budget. You have a budget. I mean, you always got an idea what you want to spend. It could be 10,000 it could be 50,000 100,000 or more. It all depends on what you have to work with. And that helps us to figure out the complexity of it. If you know when I buy it, when looking for a vehicle, and they'll say, what's your budget? And I say, I want a fair deal, and this is the dollar I want to spend now, I already know what the market is. Already know what I should be getting for that. So I already did some research. The same with you. You already got some ideas what you're what you want to spend, and what you're hoping to get out of it. And that's our goal is. Our goal is to come together that we can understand what you want to accomplish and then what fits your budget we want to respect your budget. There's one client I remember I said they gave me a budget and what they didn't want to spend. And I was like, Man, this is your backyard, like your side yard. You're never gonna see it. I just honestly feel like you're wasting your money. It just really ain't worth I don't want to take your money and you be strapped and not and step outside and be irritated because you're not utilizing it. It's very critical to utilize your investment to what you enjoy, two things, if you want to increase your value, which is always good on your property. Number two, what you enjoy sitting outside, having a yard that ain't nice and enjoyable. You don't go outside. You don't enjoy it. You drive around town, go to parks and all that stuff. But creating a yard where you go outside, you sit and relax and enjoyment that is such, such gratification, and sit there and money very, very well spent. But what we want to do is come together and understand how, what level do you want? So be open. Tell the your salesman what where your budget is, and what you're hoping to get for it. That speeds up the process. It makes stuff so much smoother, and a lot of things then they don't understand why it was so much. It's the infrastructure underneath it, building a wall, the drainage, the permits you got to get all that stuff increases the price. So those are the things you might not realize, or maybe you have done your homework and you realize that, yes, this is going to cost a little more, and go over it. I hate cutting corners and to the point that I just return away jobs cut it. You know, we don't need to do weed fabric. No one's going to notice it. You know, this, I just want the cheapest turf you can get. It's good enough. But I'm outside a lot. It's like, well, in three years, you're not going to enjoy it. So we got to get the better quality down, because time goes so fast and money is forgotten. You know, an extra grand for a higher quality turf, or, you know, whatever higher quality rock, whatever wall built with stone on it and said, not all these things add lots of complexity. They add lots of value, and they have lots of gratification. That's why landscaping is not just spreading rock and not just, you know, pulling weeds or it's just, it's just, it's just only landscaping, like no landscaping is literally the focal point when you walk up to someone's property, when you open the back door of a property and they have a beautiful turf with a pergola and a water feature, or just rocks and boulders that are strategically placed and plants growing on the sides of all those things that are done with a lot of forethought and put into it, and not just placed it just is amazing how the difference it takes when you. Put that extra time into rotating a boulder and all those things that we do to make sure that we're getting them a maximum value of the rock, or of the backyard or whatever we're working with. So I want to encourage you guys just to be up front. Hey, this is our budget. This is what I would like to get. And if you have no idea we're here, we do this all the time. We work with a lot of clients that have zero idea, and that's great with our experience. What we've done in the past is build a relationship, get a design out, and take the steps it's tough to start a project, and they change their mind. I'd rather you change your mind than regret it. So I'm not like against it, but it's also the forethought of what's taken place. So we meet a client, we sit down, we go in the backyard, we look at what they want. We sit and understand what their ultimate goal is. The things we ask for is, what kind of your what kind of pets you have, what kind of fenced in you got. We asked questions of the sun, of what, where the sun, you know, north, south, east, west. That makes a difference. When it comes to pergolas, landscaping you're enjoying when you're outdoors. You know your privacy? Do we want to get a privacy in place? And then also, when we build water features, let's go the inside the house and maximize that water feature, where you can see it from the inside out, but also the outside, where your seating area is. And then you want it loud enough you can hear it in the house and hear the water flow. So all those things are taken in place, even with barbecues and fires. Like barbecues, you want it close to the house. You have a long trip back and forth to the kitchen. But also that adds a lot of character outside. It's not just a grill, you know, on an island. It's like something get is a part of the landscaping. It's part of it. It's you look at it like you go into a beautiful room that is not like thought out. It's like you're not utilizing the space. And utilizing space is extremely critical. Number one, real estate is expensive in Prescott, and utilizing every spot of it adds great value. It makes your backyard you looks really small, but just strategically putting turf pavers gas a fireplace, or just simply rocks and boulders, putting them in the right place makes it look bigger and more alive and stand out more. And that's that's our goal, our we really focus on making your backyard pop, making your backyard look like an oasis that you can enjoy, like the old shoe salesman that has the wore out shoes at our property we had for years. We went by with no landscaping, and I would be in the house every day. I didn't even want to go outside. We landscaped the whole yard pipe. Five years later, we landscape it, and now you sit outside and it's like, Why didn't it come out earlier? Because I just saw work. I it discouraged me to go out and see something that wasn't like appealing, something that wasn't exciting, something that wasn't like relaxing, and so I just stayed in the house. It was discouraging. And myself, I've learned that just having a beautiful yard where you can go out and rest in your chair in the evenings to read a book or to visit with someone is the whole thing is the atmosphere that's around you by just a soft music you have playing the outdoor, the low landscaping lights to water features to a fire space, all that stuff. I thought, Do I really need this? I don't, but I can do it. And now it's like, Man, I just can't believe the value this brings to my wife and I Denise, and I just sit outside and enjoy the evening. And you know, I just never thought of it. I never, even though what I did every day to realize how much more relaxing it is. That's what we want to get. That's what we want to implement to you and to your property and your real estate, and whoever your neighbors or your neighbors come over just to have a gathering place of enjoyment. There's one thing about life, you know, it comes and goes. Money comes and goes, but relationships and value of making relationships, creating relationships and building memories is second to none, and that's what we do at zebras case, we don't even create a space that you can create memories, but we really work on building memories with our clients that we don't just come sign the contract and leave our sales guys are involved in the whole process, even our operational manager. We want to make sure that the process is enjoyable, and we thrive on that. Because

Rodney Steidinger:

if you bought a new car and the salesman treated you after you bought it and you went to get it, and it just things didn't go right. They just, you felt like you're taking advantage of you weren't appreciative. You just don't enjoy that vehicle, you know, you just don't enjoy it as much as if you had someone that had a great experience throughout the process. And I learned that firsthand, and we it's just not good. You just you Nick pick things apart. And we really thrive on customer relationship, being connected, communicating. There's nothing I dislike more than getting a ticket and being like, Oh, here's a change order. I didn't realize this. I didn't realize that. I mean, there's times that happens, but we do all that we can to avoid that conversation because it is awkward. It's unfair. But also, in Prescott, there's boulders under the soil we don't know about. There's hard dig claws that we can't really see, because some aren't and some are. So we try to give a fair price that if there isn't none, we're good. So those always pop up. But other than that, we work very diligently to make sure everything's covered. And so I want to encourage you guys to understand what the salesman looks like that we come on property, knowing your budget is very important before it's actually more important than knowing what you want in your yard. You say a budget. You know, I want to spend $40,000 and I want to turf a water feature in a barbecue. I'm like time out. You don't got in the budget. You can't have all those things in a pergola for that much money. So we get let's regroup. We can talk about phases to tell you so you stay in your budget, but we do it through phases, but or we just figure out, Is there any way we can leverage or whatever we can do to make that work. We want to fulfill your dreams. But reality is, things have gone up in price, and it is very discouraging to realize where we were, five, seven years ago, compared as now material, but we do our utmost best to be the give you the fairest price possible and to give you the best experience possible that you can enjoy the entire process of your landscaping and understand the difficulty of complexity of putting stuff together, but that's what we do best here. And I'm very thankful that you're listening and I'm any questions, please put comments below. We're here to turn your backyard into an oasis the lifetime that you never realize even was out there to experience. Thank you for listening. You.
